Qiyang Zhang, Ph.D.

Hi, I’m Qiyang! I am an Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School. Welcome to my website!

I am a quantitative educational researcher who focus on enhancing students’ social emotional learning outcomes through technology. My current research intends to answer two complicated but important questions: How does social media use affect students’ social-emotional learning outcomes, such as social support? What is the impact of generative AI chatbots in individuals’ well-being and mental health outcomes? In addition to these technology-oriented directions, I investigate methodological development in systematic reviews and meta-analyses. For example, I co-developed Paperfetcher to reform the current literature searching practices.

In 2024, I obtained my PhD degree in Educational studies at the Johns Hopkins University, School of Education. My interdisciplinary research combines education, communication, technology, and psychology. With enhanced tool and method in evidence synthesis, I believe that future educational practices should be informed by and built from high-quality evidence. So far, my research has been published in Journal of Youth and Adolescence, Research Synthesis Methods, Educational Research Review, and Journal of Medical Internet Research.
